Background
Atrium Ljungberg is one of Sweden's largest real estate companies and is located in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö and Uppsala. They own, develop and manage properties. The focus is on developing attractive urban environments with a mix of offices, retail, housing, services, culture and education.
This is how Atrium Ljungberg creates neighborhoods where people choose to be, today and tomorrow. But now they were going to design a new office themselves.
Challenge
Through a feasibility study, they found that the majority of employees were working outside the office and determined that they needed to do something to optimize the empty workspaces that had been created. The desire was for a modern workplace with an activity-based approach where the environment would instead promote the task of the day and become a more sustainable office.
The final result
The new office is entirely activity-based, which is reflected in the design and layout. The development work was largely inspired by hotels, which often offer welcoming, warm and relaxing environments with a high level of service. The guiding principle has been to develop an office that is long-term and sustainable. It has therefore been important to choose materials and furniture that reflect a genuinely long-term environment. Carpentry, textiles, furniture and work tools are produced by selected suppliers who have a clear sustainability profile.
Senab was involved early in the project and advised on the disposal of existing furniture from the previous office, and worked to refine the prescribed materials from the architects so that the desired purchase budget, quality and material could be kept together. Via Edsbyn, specially adapted work tables and constructed personal storage units were produced as requested. Senab handled all purchases of furnishings, delivery planning and installation of furniture in stages as the renovation progressed.
The result met expectations to the letter and the feel was exactly as desired.
