The project was ready for Volvo's 97th birthday, April 14, 2024, when the World of Volvo opened.
On Volvo's 97th birthday, April 14, 2024, the World of Volvo opened, a new experience center for both cultural and commercial contexts next to Liseberg in the heart of Gothenburg.
World of Volvo, a joint venture between Volvo Cars and Volvo Group, consists of over 22,000 m2. World of Volvo is a vibrant meeting place filled with innovative, inspiring and entertaining experiences. It offers major events, conferences, exhibitions and a wonderful range of food and drink. This versatility places high demands on both flexibility and precision in the interior design solutions, which has been a driving factor in our involvement in the project.
About the mission
Designed by Henning Larsen Architects, the World of Volvo is designed to reflect Volvo Cars and Volvo Group's sustainability values, innovative tradition and Swedish nature. In the extensive 4,500 m² exhibition space, visitors can explore Volvo through an exciting mix of digital and physical experiences. Interspersed with both the most iconic vehicles and Volvo's groundbreaking innovations, Senab's mission has been to use our knowledge and experience to develop the interior solutions, enhance the architectural expression and optimize the visitor experience - on all levels.
By customizing interior design solutions for each use, along with a careful logistics plan, we have ensured that each piece of interior design harmonizes not only aesthetically but also functionally with the dynamic nature of the building and the purposes of the different environments.
The project has also involved a lot of work coordinating deliveries and installations from over 80 different suppliers for a complex building to say the least - which requires a lot of experience, high precision and good cooperation between several parties in the supply chain.
Challenges of the project
One of the main challenges of the project was to ensure the smooth coordination and installation of interior design components from all suppliers, while maintaining strict quality and time schedules.
Integrating different types of interior design solutions on five different floors, with specific requirements for each unique space, required innovative and flexible problem solving. Our ability to adapt and share our knowledge was crucial in working with the client to best meet these project challenges.
The final result
The end result is a diverse and incredibly inviting experience center that is not only a place for exhibitions and events, but also a living representation of Volvo's forward-thinking ideology.
The interior of World of Volvo is a balance of functionality and aesthetics, reflecting Swedish nature and enhancing the visitor experience. By sharing our knowledge and expertise, we have not only made it easier for our customer, we have also created a place where visitors can explore and be inspired.
